Privacy Policy & Storage Notice
mostlymovies.de is dedicated purely to cinephile film trivia. We respect your digital sovereignty and operate with zero tracking, zero third-party profiling, and zero commercial advertising.
1. Core Privacy Principle (100% Tracker-Free)
mostlymovies.de does not track your browsing behavior, does not build user profiles, and does not share your data with advertisers, data brokers, or marketing networks.
- No Google Analytics or trackers: We do not employ any external web analytics software.
- No Meta / Facebook Pixel or social widgets: No social media scripts monitor your presence on this website.
- No advertising networks: The platform is completely ad-free and subscription-free.
- Self-hosted typography: All fonts (WOFF2) and static files are served directly from our own servers, eliminating connections to third-party CDNs such as Google Fonts.
2. Local Storage & Functional Cookies
To provide an uninterrupted, seamless game experience without requiring you to create an account or log in, our games utilize modern client-side storage technologies: HTML5 LocalStorage and a single functional first-party cookie named mm_stats.
Only minimal, strictly non-personal game progress metadata:
- The calendar date of completed daily challenges (e.g.,
"2026-09-04") so you don't repeat solved puzzles. - Your current daily consecutive streak count (e.g.,
3) and your all-time highest streak. - Anonymous game state coordinates for today's active riddle (e.g., revealed clues, guess history).
Why across subdomains? The cookie mm_stats is set with the wildcard domain .mostlymovies.de strictly so that when you complete a puzzle on an individual game subdomain (such as cinedegrees.mostlymovies.de or chronos.mostlymovies.de), the central portal hub at mostlymovies.de can update your daily gauntlet progress ("✓ Completed Today") and display your total daily streak counter.
Under Section 25 (2) No. 2 TDDDG (German Telecommunications and Telemedia Data Protection Act) and Article 5(3) of the EU ePrivacy Directive, user consent via an intrusive cookie banner is explicitly not required when the storage of or access to information on your end device is strictly necessary to provide a telemedia service explicitly requested by you. Storing your daily game score and streak counter falls directly under this statutory exemption.
3. Movie Metadata & Poster Images (TMDb)
Film metadata, actor photography, and movie posters are retrieved using the API provided by The Movie Database (TMDb).
All API requests are executed server-side via our PHP backend infrastructure. Your personal IP address and browser fingerprint are never forwarded to TMDb. Poster images are cached and served via standard secure HTTPS protocols.
4. User Control & Instant Data Erasure
Because all game progress is stored strictly inside your own browser, you maintain complete, autonomous control over your data at all times:
- You can erase your stored streaks and puzzle completions whenever you wish by clearing your browser's site data and cookies for
mostlymovies.de. - Playing in Private / Incognito Browsing Mode ensures that all game records are automatically deleted by your browser the moment you close your tab or window.
5. Responsible Controller & Inquiries
Responsible party in terms of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and national data protection laws:
